With decades of construction experience under his belt (and a knack for craftsmanship), Les built Lay a custom, climate-controlled backyard studio from the ground up. The result? A stunning, functional space that not only housed her inventory but became a showcase for her creative work.

When Lay shared photos of her new studio, the response was overwhelming. Friends and followers began asking: “Can I get one of those?”—whether for a she-shed, man cave, hobby haven, or remote workspace, it was clear: there was a growing demand for high-quality, turn-key backyard escapes.

That’s when the spark turned into a business idea.

Les, who had been working in tech sales for years, had always said that if the right moment came along, he’d dive into a venture built on passion and skill. When he was unexpectedly laid off, that moment arrived—and he got to work immediately, building a model studio to show off what they could offer.

Today, we proudly offer three beautifully crafted models—The Austin, The Carrol Lyn, and The Bryan—each designed to serve a range of needs and styles. Whether you’re an artist, remote worker, wellness coach, or simply someone who craves a quiet retreat close to home, we’re here to create your ideal space.

Les Young

Les brings a solid mix of building know-how and business experience to Projex. He grew up learning the ropes from his handyman dad, who tackled every project himself. That’s where Les picked up the basics of building early on. In his 20s, he worked in both residential and commercial construction and even ran his own home improvement business for a while.

Over the past 30 years, Les built a career in technology sales and enablement, helping companies grow their marketing and sales efforts.

Now, he’s focused on making sure your workspace not only meets high standards of quality—but is built to last and serve your needs for years to come.

Leslie Young affectionately known as “Lay” is the visionary behind Projex. Interiors, an interior design studio for consulting services, decorative accents, staging and more! She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from North Carolina A&T State University; and as a pediatric nurse, she has learned her desire to serve others goes well beyond the stethoscope. Her aim is to bridge the gap between a client’s dream home and their current living space showing that an ideal aesthetic is attainable for anyone’s home!

Lyn has always had a creative eye. From an early age, she was drawn to art, fashion, and design—a passion that led her to Cosmetology School after high school. Over the last 30+ years, she’s refined her sense of style and design, skills that now translate beautifully into interior spaces.

As a trusted consultant for Lay’s interior design projects, Lyn brings a sharp attention to detail and a deep understanding of aesthetics. Her role centers on keeping your project on track—closely monitoring progress to ensure everything is completed on time and to your satisfaction. Her thoughtful approach and commitment to quality make her an essential part of every design journey.
